If we read our daily newspapers, watch television channels, surf the Internet and connect with the social media, we mostly get the pessimistic news. Terrorism, refugees, atrocities and natural disasters seem to dominate the news. We seem to live in a world of fear and despair and our media portrays this reality.
However, if we take a longer term view, we find that countries can change their destiny and create a better future for their population. It is very much within the realm of possibility for a country to bring about change if there is hope. At the same time, a country needs to create hope for its citizens. Thus, a country needs hope to create positive change but it also needs to create hope in the first place. Can hope be a cause or effect of positive change?
